On these pages we will answer the most Frequently Asked Questions by beginners about flying R/C models in general and about the E-GO models C-182.
No, it is not difficult, especially if you start your training using the enclosed simulator on a computer. Simply load the software onto your computer and using the cable included in the box, connect the transmitter to the computer. Follow the instructions and get use to flying your model. You will get a feel for the control inputs required and the orientation of the model. Small movements of the stick are all that is required to control the aircraft smoothly. Most beginners mistakenly think full deflection of the stick is needed. This leads to over controlling of the aircraft and erratic flight. By practising on the simulator you will learn how much input is needed.
When you displace the stick(s) on the transmitter an electronic signal is sent from the aerial of your transmitter to the aerial of the receiver on board the aircraft. The receiver interprets that signal and sends an electrical charge to drive a small motor called a servo. The servo arm has a small linkage to a control surface on your model. It is the deflection of this control surface into the airflow that changes your models flight path. The movement of the servo is proportional to the amount of stick displacement on your transmitter.
An aircraft flies because of its wing, not because of its motor. Gliders, which have no motor at all, fly very well because of the clean, efficient wing design. Our model is much the same. The motor is a power source used for the model to climb in height or to increase speed. If the motor stopped, the model would continue to glide and remain fully controllable at all times.
Electric motors are a lightweight, powerful, efficient, clean and quiet propulsion system. Included with your C-182 is the electric motor, which is already installed in your model and connected to an Electronic Speed Controller (E.S.C). The C-182 model comes with the battery pack to power that motor and a charger to recharge the battery pack after each flight. Additional battery packs can be purchased if you wish, so you can charge one while flying with the other. Electric power ensures that there is no mess from fuels and oils and that you have a quiet flying model with great performance.
Many products are advertised on the internet as being suitable for beginners, but they simply are not. You can’t be entirely sure of what you are buying and once you make a purchase over the net, it is difficult to obtain advise or even spare parts if something goes wrong or is not what you were expecting. Retail hobby stores can provide you with the correct advise and ongoing support including spare parts and that is why this package is only available through retail hobby stores in Australia. Some of those stores may have an online service in which you can buy through them.
